Is it difficult to start a business in Indonesia?

According to the rating in the World Bank’s Doing Business study, Indonesia is considered to be moderate when it comes to starting a business. In the 183 economies the World Bank evaluated, Indonesia is ranked at 122 which is the bottom 100 of the list. In terms of starting a business, it is at number 161 which means that it is quite hard in terms of application and such. This is due to the time taken and the steps involved in registration of businesses.

In terms of employing workers for your company, it is at number 149 while registering property is easier which is at 95. You will most likely be required to bring your own capital as it is not easy to apply for credit from the financial institutions in the country where it is 113 hardest as compared to the 184 economies. Taxation is at 116 while in terms of enforcing contracts, it is at number 146.  Hence, from the rankings above, you can comprehend that there are many issues involved with starting a company in Indonesia which would take time and surely money. So it would be advisable to inject your own capital into the company and to be somewhat sure of who you are dealing with before setting up your business there.
